Polarizing filter and sunglasses
Light spreads throughout the space in waves, which oscillate to every direction of the optical sphere. If the light reflects from a shiny non-metal surface (glass, snow, water surface …), it becomes polarized, which means that its waves move only in two dimensions: horizontal and vertical.
Vertical polarized light is for our eyes very useful. It enables us to see color and contrast, while horizontal polarized light creates unpleasant sun blindness and optical clutter. Polarizing filter is used to eliminate this negative effect of horizontal polarization.
Sunglasses with polarizing filter
Sunglasses with polarization filter let through only the positive vertical oscillation, looking through them is very comfortable, with high contrast and without an unpleasant dazzle. The group of horizontal light beams is absorbed by the polarizing filter. In combination with a high-quality UV filter and different shades of polarized lenses, it provides a good protection from sunlight, high level of visual acuity, notable relief from eye fatigue and brilliant color perception.
You will definitely appreciate the comfort and advantages, which the polarization sunglasses bring, in daily life, sport and relaxation. They protect sight from harming and excessive rays, lower eyestrain, are a prevention of degenerative changes, preserve good sight until senior age, enable drivers to see well against sun reflected from wet, hot or snow-cowered road surface, filter the intensive, eye-ballasting harming rays of horizontal spacing of screens and TVs. Globally they increase resolution, depth of definition and simplicity of focusing.
To find out, if sunglasses are polarized is really easy. If you put two polarized glasses behind each other, you can see through them normally. But if you rotate one of them 90° they become non-transparent. Two crossed polarization filters absorb both vertical and horizontal waves, so no light goes through.
