Sunglasses information
The history of sunglasses
Sunglasses during the history have been used in different forms around the world for a very long time. Roman emperor Nero used to watch gladiators through a shiny green emerald, which protected him from sun blindness. The light also disturbed the Eskimos, when it reflected from the snow. As a protection they used a piece of leather with holes in it. The first invention in history of the actual sunglasses is dated between 1268 and 1289.
Polarizing filter and sunglasses
Light spreads throughout the space in waves, which oscillate to every direction of the optical sphere. If the light reflects from a shiny non-metal surface (glass, snow, water surface …), it becomes polarized, which means that its waves move only in two dimensions: horizontal and vertical.
UV filter, UV radiation and sunglasses
Aside from an aesthetic function, protection against the effects of sharp sunlight and UV radiation is still the main function of sunglasses. The entire electromagnetic spectrum of sunlight is compound of a set of waves continuously changing frequencies.
Sunglasses
At the time of climate change, sun rays become more aggresive for man and it is important to better protect the human sight. Therefore, sunglasses have become an indispensable tool protecting the sight from sun rays. Sunglasses have also become a popular fashion accessory.
